How fit do I need to be for a 1-day gorilla trek?

Moderate fitness is enough for this day trek. The hike is 2–4 hours through forest at altitude, but porters and walking sticks are available. You must be able to walk uphill slowly for several hours.

What's included in the 1-day gorilla tour?

Park entry fees, gorilla permit ($1,500), guided trek, transport from Kigali, packed lunch, and hotel drop-off are all included. Not included: personal gear, tips, travel insurance.

What should I pack for gorilla trekking?

Bring sturdy hiking boots, rain jacket, long trousers, insect repellent, gardeners gloves (for stinging nettles), sunscreen, hat, and a packed lunch. A walking stick helps on steep trails.

What happens if I don't find the gorillas?

Your guide tracks the habituated family and you will find them — success rate is over 99%. If unusually they cannot be located, no refund is given but this is extremely rare.

Can I book a 1-day gorilla trek last minute?

Permits are limited to 96 per day. Last-minute availability exists but we recommend booking at least 2–3 weeks ahead to secure your preferred date.
